Our School Day
Our classroom doors open at 8.40 am for early morning work to start and registration is from 8.50 am to 9.00 am.
Our school day finishes at 2.55 pm, with the gates opening at 2.50 pm.
There are three gates to access the school: A green gate at the front of the school, a gate at the back of the school field leading to Pickers Ditch and a gate between us and the Junior School.
Please note, the government have announced a minimum expectation of 32.5 hours for the length of the school week, which comes into force from September 2023. Therefore, from September, Burrsville children will be expected to be in school from 8:40am – 3:10pm.
KS1 Morning playtime
We have a fifteen minute break each morning usually between 10.15 am until 10.30 am. Children are encouraged to eat a piece of fruit for their snack. Fruit is provided by the school.
Our lunchtime begins at 12.00 with the Early Years children having their lunch first followed by Year 1 and Year2.
Drop off and collection
Children are dropped off and collected from their outside classroom doors. After school on Tuesdays we have 'open house' sessions where you can pop into your child's classroom to see their work or have a chat with their class teacher. This helps to build up a close relationship between home and school - we want to have good links with all parents. If normal arrangements have to be altered (eg you are delayed or another person is collecting your child), please let us know. This avoids confusion or upset.
Getting to school
To get to and from school, walking is definitely the best option! There are lots of benefits: it's healthier than travelling by car, it improves the safety of pedestrians and road-users, and it respects nearby residents and parking regulations. Alternatively, we have bike-racks. If you do need to travel by car, please park wisely.
