Burrsville 7 Before 7!

We want to share with you a video that has been produced as part of the promotion of 11 before 11. Whilst the video may only show what is happening in a handful of our schools, we have seen evidence of the true commitment of our staff across all schools during the pandemic.  The video can be accessed via this link https://vimeo.com/437907010/b5407f8e94

At Burrsville Infant Academy we ‘create a joy in learning’ by enriching their school experience. We aim to do so by providing them with opportunities and experiences through our REAch2 ‘11 Before 11’ programme which we have adapted to create our special '7 Before 7' Burrsville programme.

Each year group will have the opportunity to take part in 2 or 3 promises each year and if you have started with us in Early Years and stay till Year 2 you will benefit from all 7 Burrsville promise!

Promise: Flashmob

What we did:

Today, we all met at Clacton Shopping Village after school to surprise the people Christmas shopping by singing some Christmas carols. We have been working hard to practice singing the songs ‘Jingle Bells’ and ‘We wish you a Merry Christmas’ without any music! We all met by the big Christmas tree and sang the songs. The people shopping stopped to watch us and loved it! We also had a surprise visit from Mrs Claus, who loved our singing. She gave us all a present. Our singing was also filmed and was turned into a video! I was really cool to watch our singing back like it was a music video!

Promise: 10 Good Deeds

What we did:

For our promise, we worked hard to complete 10 Good Deeds around school and the local community. We helped clear the leaves in the outside area, shared stories with the nursery children, created a food hamper for the food bank, gave the teachers a sweet treat, did litter picking in the local area, made Christmas cards for the neighbours, helped the dinner ladies set up the hall for lunch, washed the bikes and scooters in the roadway, helped each class with their recycling and made someone smile by making a card for Mrs Westcott! We had lots of fun and hope we were helpful and put a smile on lots of people’s faces!

Promise: Wildlife Warrior

What we did:

Every class completed the Big School Bird Watch. This was created by the RSPB to help monitor the number of each bird in the local area. We went outside to the playground and the forest and counted the different birds we saw. This will help the RSPB know what bird are in decline and need help. We had so much fun spotting all the different birds. The most common bird was a black bird! We also saw lots of seagulls!
