Autumn Term – 

Our topic for this term is 'This is London',  we are learning all about King Charles and his life. We made crowns during our first week of Year One and pretended we were King and Queen for the day!

This term we have been focusing on a strong start and securing foundational skills. We have been writing simple sentences about ourselves and have been focusing on capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. 

 

We have looked at the text 'If I Were King' and wrote simple sentences related to the pictures we were given. We have been challenging ourselves to use 'and' to make our writing more interesting. 

 

In Maths, we have been looking at numbers to 10. We have represented amounts with lots of different manipulatives and have been finding one more and one less of an amount. We then progressed to compare numbers 1-10 using manipulatives and numerals.

 

In Science, we have been exploring the weather. We enjoyed making windsocks to look at the wind's direction and explored our shadows changing throughout the day.
